Me in my "Let's be serious", mood!
A Brief Biography
I was born and raised in Newark, Licking County, Ohio. I played
trombone in the band and was a drum major for the Newark High School Marching Band.
Favorite subjects in school were; history, music, science and art. My mother taught me my
love for music and my father taught me the basic skills of the outdoors, including
hunting, trapping and fishing. All these skills I tried to perfect to the point that I had
careers in several of them. I have always been the type of person that there was never a
challenge to large or small to tackle and never a job I couldn't do if there was
information available to learn it. Through out life I have been challenged from within to
go after what others felt I couldn't do. New vocations were never far from my mind when I
got bored with the one I was doing at the time. I have had careers as a State and Federal
Game Protector, Deputy Sheriff, Technical Writer and Illustrator, Managing a Game Farm and
Shooting Club, Manufacturing and Managing a Jewelry Store, Acting, Land Manager for a
State Agency, and Owning and Operating a Printing Company.
I have always had one or more hobby and have usually been consumed by it
until something new caught my eye as a greater challenge. Some of them are: Hunting,
trapping, fishing, stamp collecting, coin collecting, painting, photography, singing,
taxidermy, raising flowers, playing the organ, woodwork, acting, writing, computers and
genealogy. Several of these ended up as opportunities to make additional income, i.e.,
acting, trapping, taxidermy, genealogy, painting, writing and photography.
By in large I have had a very successful life and have experienced the
normal trauma of this modern age, such as being divorced, and never enough time or
opportunity to learn all of the new technology that is available today.
I have one son, Brad by my first marriage, who has a beautiful little
girl by the name of Heather. I have one older sister, Carole; two younger sisters, Marilyn
and Marjorie; and a younger brother Jack. I had two wonderful parents in Dalton and
Elizabeth. My father passed away in October of 1999 and my mother in November
2005.
I now live in Newark, Ohio. I am deeply engrossed in my family's genealogy and have compiled 38,000+ names
linked to both sides of my family. Some of these names and information may be seen by
